Before our first session, please read the Am I Right For You section of the website www.zddog.com.au
This will also outline what I need from you.
It is important that you feel comfortable working with me as we may be working together for a while. If you don't feel like I am the best fit for your team, that's ok. We all have different likes and learning styles

Before the session you will have filled in a questionnaire, this will provide me with information about your dog's behaviour. I may have follow up questions and so usually in the initial consultation we do spend some time talking. The initial consultation is also about me getting to know your dog, this will help me figure out the best way to address your concerns.
Please alert me ahead of time if your dog has any issues towards strangers entering your home and we will discuss the best way to manage our meeting.

After the session I will send some notes along with an invoice (if you did not pay in cash). These will help you remember the goals we spoke about. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. It may take up to a week for me to send notes across to you, in this time, again please contact me if you need anything clarified.
I like to leave 2 – 3 weeks between sessions so that you and your dog can practice the techniques. If you would like the sessions closer in time, that is not an issue, just let me know.
Please understand I can not provide a time line for how long an issue will take to be resolved.

Human aggression.
Safety is a high priority but your dog's mental welfare is also. If you are booking a session for human aggression, we may do half the initial consultation over the phone so we can discuss the best way to set the environment for your dog
Separation anxiety.
Separation anxiety is extremely complex. The more information I have ahead of time the better. I will need video of you dog when they are alone. If you can not provide this, please let me know ahead of time. Treating separation anxiety relies on constant small changes to the plan. After the initial consultation I will provide you with a log to fill in and request you send over videos for me to review. Depending on your situation, we may not need to meet in person again.
Dog reactivity
Please be aware that at this stage I do not have a 'set up' dog. This does not mean I can not help, often there are many things we can do to improve reactivity that do not include having another dog present.

I will apologise ahead of time, due to taking evening and weekend classes, my hours are unusual and can be inflexible. If they do not work for you, just let me know. I work closely with many great trainers in Canberra and can always suggest another.
Looking forward to meeting you and your dog!
