Gaining experience in dog training can be difficult, especially if you want to learn about complex behavioural issues.
The shadowing program is aimed at people wanting to expand their own knowledge in dog behaviour consultancy or group classes. It’s take place at the purpose designed venue in East Queanbeyan.
I hold a certificate IV in Training and Assessment, contract to the Australian Delta Society to grade students and previously have taught at the Canberra Institute of Technology.
Why Is There A Fee
The cases I see tend to be very complex. You will most likely have questions and want further explanation as to the information and guidance I have provided my clients. To be able to provide you with a worthwhile experience, I need to schedule in the time. My insurance also does not cover volunteers or work experience students. As a participant in the shadowing program you are a client.
What Can You Expect:
There are two options for shadowing programs:
Private sessions
-Shadowing of 6 consultations, at least 2 of these will be initial consultations
-Opportunity for written or verbal questioning after consultations
-One session of critiqued skills training. This can be with either your own dog or one of mine
Cost: $500
Classes
-Shadowing one round of training classes, this will either be an 8 week Puppy Preschool program or a 6 week Adolescent
-Opportunity for written or verbal questioning after each class
Cost: $200 for 6 week programs $300 for 8 week programs
If you are doing a course which requires a set number of hours, please let me know and we can discuss option.
